Ulrich
Ackermann - The Gruyère District from bird’s-eye view
From the 14th of February until the 18th of April 2004
With his aerial views of the Gruyère District,
the photographer Ulrich Ackermann establishes new dimensions. Using
a panoramic camera, he restores the majestic grandeur of the Préalpes
Fribourgeoises and, with an unusual precision, fixes their relief
on film. The snowy mountain peaks and the criss-crossing of the light
and the clouds create a fascinating atmosphere and compose photographs
of dreamlike beauty.
Ulrich Ackermann
was born in 1947. After commercial studies, he learnt the photography
in Hugo Frutig’s workshop in
Bern. The human being, the animals and mostly landscapes of the
world are his favourite subjects. His photographs have been published
in many books, magazines and calendars. In collaboration with
Ilford
Imaging
Switzerland GmbH (french), The Castle of Gruyères
presents a selection of 25 large size photographs realised between
2001-2003.
