Ivo
Soldini - Sculptures and drawings
From the 30th of April until the 4th of September 2005
The artiste Ivo Soldini looks upon the human body with interrogation
and passion. The exhibition at the Castle of Gruyères reveals the
multiple facets that enrich his work. The outdoor spaces are besieged by
imposing sculptures. Long figures, lonesome or in groups, defy balance
and respond to the immutable architecture of the site. Monumental heads
resting on the ground, give rise to thought on modernity and individuality.
Inside, the statues of smaller size and drawings, with agile and vigorous
writing, complete the process.
Ivo Soldini was born on the 9th of October 1951 in Lugano.
He studies in Milan: first at the Fine-Arts Academy of
the Brera, then at University in political science, history
of art and philosophy. His travels to Northern Europe stimulate
his artistic development. A long side sculpture, he develops
an important graphic and pictorial production. His works
can be seen in many public spaces and private collections
in Switzerland and Italy. Ivo Soldini lives and works in
Ligornetto in Ticino. |
