Francesco
Ragusa - Forgotten places
From the 26th of January until the 18th of May 2008
Forgotten stones almost secret or on the contrary prominent silhouettes,
in our region castle ruins are stringing out : Arconciel, Bossonens,
Illens, Bellegarde, La Roche, Montsalvens, Pont-en-Ogoz. Surrendering
to the fascination of these places, Francesco Ragusa, young up-and-coming
photographer, has explored their facets for over a year. Passing from
the grandeur of architecture to the calligraphy of invasive nature,
capturing light atmosphere almost like a dream, 50 photographs are
to be discovered at the castle of Gruyères. Note the evocative
power of these images that give a new lease of life to the lost world
of Knights.
Born in
1979 in Fribourg, Francesco Ragusa has sicilian origins. During a
trip to the Cévennes in France he became aware of his vocation
for photography. From that point on, he took part in different training
courses, including at Yves Eigenmann and Primula Bosshard’s
workshop. In 2006, he received a Grant of encouragement from the canton
of Fribourg for his project “the workshop”. He regularly
collaborates with the “Service des biens culturels” (department
of cultural goods), helping in making an inventory of the cultural
heritage. Francesco Ragusa, works and lives in Fribourg. |
