Markus Peissard - Ice Fantasies : Photographs
From the 21st of January until the 29th of April 2012
Open every day, including Easter weekend
Applying an intimist and microscopic photographic look at ice, Markus Peissard reveals surprising beauty: the elegance of surfaces iridescent with light, sediments' graphic traces, and almost musical crystalline structures. The expressive force of his sixty photographs exhibited at the castle is reinforced by concentrated and selective grouping. At the heart of winter this creates an immersive experience, evoking many emotions for visitors to enjoy.
Born in 1953 in Fribourg, Markus Peissard has been handling cameras with conviction and curiosity from the age of 25. Although trained as a teacher, he works within the federal administration. In the world of photography, he has developed enriching contacts with people such as Gaby and Joseph Julmy, Gérald Sciboz and Emmanuel Gavillet. He is also a member of Fribourg's photography association and often participates in competitions. It has been ten years since his intimist photographic dialogue with nature - of which he is so fond - began. The images of the current exhibition were created between 2008 and 2011, along the banks of the stream Gérine (Plasselbschlund, canton of Fribourg). In an autographic slide show, Markus Peissard narrates his original approach whilst emphasising the poetic dimension with a hint of philosophy and humour. |
