Alt. +1000 Extra Muros
July 11 – November 1st 2015
The Gruyères Castle opens its doors to the Alt.+1000 photography festival and presents the work of Edgar Martins. Investing the former count's residence, the English artist showcases works that challenge the notion of territory, its representations and its avatars.
Through finely elaborated images, the photographer immerses us into intriguing territories. These spaces are those of the cities and suburbs frantically erected by the American promoters, but whose development was abruptly stopped by the subprime crisis. These are also the training grounds of the British special forces in which he seizes abstract and hypnotic compositions.
