Inclusive Future Day

Guided tours in sign language

The Department of Health and Social Affairs of the canton of Fribourg (DSAS), through its Social Welfare Service (SPS), is organising the 2024 Action Days for the Rights of People with Disabilities in the canton of Fribourg.

As part of this event, the Castle of Gruyères is offering deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors the chance to explore the former residence of the Count in the company of a guide who speaks French sign language (French-speaking Switzerland).

A member of the region's deaf community, our guide will take visitors on a tour of the castle. From room to room, he relates historical facts and anecdotes that bring this emblematic site to life. Samuel Schmutz, who lives in Gruyère and is passionate about the history of his region, has been diligently training to offer this tour in sign language.

The LSF tour lasts 1 hour 15 minutes. It is open to the public at 11 am and 2 pm.
