School visits

School classes can discover Gruyères Castle on their own, through a guided tour or through an animation.

Swiss public schools from primary to university level receive free admission for class visits when accompanied by their teacher. Student groups remain under their teacher’s responsibility throughout the visit. This offer is available only on weekdays, outside of school holidays.

Picnics

Please note that eating and drinking are not permitted within the castle grounds. A picnic area is available at "Clos-aux-Cerfs", next to the Gruyères church.

Safety instructions

Throughout the visit, students remain under the responsibility of their teacher, to ensure their safety and that of the castle and its collections.

Gruyères Castle is a museum with ancient, fragile and valuable objects. Before entering the castle, teachers are asked to gather their class and inform them of the following recommendations.

For reasons of conservation and safety:

  • do not run;
  • never touch any objects or furniture;
  • do not sit or lean on the furniture ;
  • no food or drink is allowed inside;
  • photographs are permitted ONLY WITHOUT FLASH.
