Noël en Erzgebirge

In the Erzgebirge, the Christmas season is eagerly awaited by its inhabitants. During the festive season, the villages of this once-mineral region of Germany sparkle with light, while the windows of the houses are adorned with magnificent scenes and wooden figurines handcrafted by the whole family. Gruyères Castle celebrates this historic and now world-renowned craft.

The exhibition features a host of surprising objects, including the famous uniformed nutcrackers and imposing Christmas pyramids. Drawn from private collections in Switzerland, these treasures reflect the light and fascinating history of the region where they were created.
