Photo Esplanade – Christelle Boulé
Botanica
For the new edition of Photo Esplanade, Gruyères Castle has invited Christelle Boulé to present her Botanica project. Inspired by the herbarium of the Jardin des Plantes in Montpellier and its centuries-old plants, the series of photographs evokes both the persistent cultivation of natural treasures and the disappearance of certain species.
With her photograms, which are characterized by leaves, branches, pistils or petals of existing or vanished plants, the Canadian-Swiss artist invents a wonderful, timeless garden. Her compositions, a colorful kaleidoscope on the castle esplanade, invite us on a journey through time and pay homage to the fragile and sometimes intangible wonders of nature.
