Sonia Kacem
La chute
For several years now, Sonia Kacem has been exploring the frontiers of abstraction with an approach both minimal and baroque. Through intense work on colour, material, language of shapes, ornamentation and gesture, she creates compositions, sometimes of impressive dimensions, that invite to immersion and visual pleasure.
Regularly using repurposed elements, the artist creates works by draping materials and playing with the tensions she creates. Heavy fabrics are expertly pleated in the historic rooms of the castle. Plastic fleshes cascade over the stone, while enigmatic wooden signs intermingle on the richly decorated walls, patiently waiting to be deciphered.
